Each person’s journey through grief is unique. Let our staff walk alongside you through yours.
Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas is so much more than a place where grieving children come to heal. We change lives.
Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas was founded on May 20, 1997, as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Recognizing the permanent impact loss can have on young people, the Center was established to help children and families grieving the death of a loved one. In a culture that does not talk about grief and bereavement, and in a world that doesn’t “get it,” we do.
At the Center we believe that each person’s journey through grief is unique and therefore deserving of a distinctive approach to healing. We help children and their caregivers understand the depth of their grief, stabilize and preserve family relationships, and cope with the loss of their loved one.
Grief is a term often used to describe the wide range of emotional and physical reactions that arise when someone has experienced the death of a loved one. It is important to keep in mind that everyone’s experience of grief is unique. Let these resources serve as a guide to help you join your person on their journey through grief.
Grief Education Institute is an initiative of Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, focused on offering professionals the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will strengthen their ability to assist children and families in their grief process. The Center offers an annual series of presentations and workshops covering a range of topics that accompany the complicated topic of grief.
Children’s Bereavement Center provides a unique clinical setting for students during practicum and internship placement. Students accepted into the internship program will have the opportunity to extend their clinical knowledge under the supervision of professional, multidisciplinary staff.
